അദ്ധ്വാനവും മൂല്യവും

എന്തായാലും, കോട്ടും പട്ടും വെറും മൂല്യങ്ങളല്ല മറിച്ച് നിശ്ചിത പരിമാണാധിഷ്ഠിത മൂല്യങ്ങളാണ് , നമ്മുടെ അനുമാനമനുസരിച്ച് , കോട്ട് പത്ത് യാഡ് പട്ടിൻ്റെ ഇരട്ടി വിലമതിക്കുന്നു. അവയുടെ മൂല്യങ്ങളിൽ എപ്പോഴാണ് വ്യത്യാസം? പട്ടിലടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന അദ്ധ്വാനം കോട്ടലടങ്ങിയതിൻ്റെ പകുതി മാത്രമാണെന്ന വസ്തുതയിൽ അധിഷ്ഠിതമാണത്,അനന്തരഫലമായി , രണ്ടാമത്തേതിൽ ചിലവഴിച്ച അദ്ധ്വാനശക്തി , ആദ്യത്തേതിൻ്റെ ഉൽപാദനത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ സമയത്തിൻ്റെ ഇരട്ടി ആയിരുന്നിരിക്കണം.

ആയതിനാൽ, ഒരു ഉപഭോഗ വസ്തുവിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന അദ്ധ്വാനത്തെ , ഉപയോഗ മൂല്യവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഗുണാത്മകമായി മാത്രം കണക്കാക്കുമ്പോൾ , മൂല്യവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് അത് പരിമാണത്മക മാത്രമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുകയും അതിനെ ആദ്യമായി ശുദ്ധവും ലളിതവുമായ അദ്ധ്വാനത്തിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുവരപ്പെടേണ്ടാതായിട്ടുമുണ്ട്. ആദ്യത്തേതിൽ എങ്ങിനെ , എന്ത് എന്നതാണ് ചോദ്യം, രണ്ടാമത്തേതിൽ എത്ര? എത്രത്തോളം സമയം? ഒരു ഉപഭോഗ വസ്തുവിൻ്റെ മൂല്യപരിമാണം പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്നത് അതിലടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന അദ്ധ്വാനത്തിൻ്റെ സമയം മാത്രമായതിനാൽ, ഇത് എല്ലാ ഉപഭോഗ വസ്തുക്കൾക്കും ബാധകമാവുന്നു , ഒരു നിശ്ചിത അനുപാതത്തിൽ പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ , അവ തുല്യമാകുന്നു.

Coats and linen, however, are not merely values, but values of definite magnitude, and according to our assumption, the coat is worth twice as much as the ten yards of linen. Whence this difference in their values? It is owing to the fact that the linen contains only half as much labour as the coat, and consequently, that in the production of the latter, labour-power must have been expended during twice the time necessary for the production of the former

While, therefore, with reference to use-value, the labour contained in a commodity counts only qualitatively, with reference to value it counts only quantitatively, and must first be reduced to human labour pure and simple. In the former case, it is a question of How and

What, in the latter of How much? How long a time? Since the magnitude of the value of a commodity represents only the quantity of labour embodied in it, it follows that all commodities, when taken

in certain proportions, must be equal in value.

ആയതിനാൽ , നാം വ്യത്യസ്ത ഉപയോഗ മൂല്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും സാമാന്യവൽക്കരണം നടത്തി കോട്ടിലും പട്ടിലും മൂല്യം കാണുന്ന അതേ പോലെ തന്നെ, അവയിലെ മൂല്യത്തെ പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്ന അദ്ധ്വാനങ്ങളേയും : തയ്യലും നെയ്ത്തും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രയോജന പ്രദമായ അദ്ധ്വാന രൂപങ്ങളിലുള്ള വ്യത്യാസത്തേയും നാം പരിഗണിക്കുന്നില്ല. കോട്ടും പട്ടും ഉപയോഗ മൂല്യങ്ങളെന്ന നിലയിൽ , തുണിയുടേയും നൂലിന്റേയും സവിശേഷ ഉൽപ്പാദന പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന്റേയും സംയോജനമാകുമ്പോൾ , മറുവശത്ത് കോട്ടും പട്ടും മൂല്യങ്ങളെന്ന നിലയിൽ വെറും ഏകജാതീയമായി ഘനീഭവിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന വേർതിരിക്കപ്പെടാത്ത അദ്ധ്വാനമാണ് , അതുകൊണ്ട് രണ്ടാമത് പറഞ്ഞ മൂല്യങ്ങളിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന അദ്ധ്വാനം തുണിയും നൂലുമായുള്ള അതിന്റെ ഉൽപ്പാദന ബന്ധമായി ഗുണത്തിൽ കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നില്ല , മറിച്ച് മാനുഷിക അദ്ധ്വാന ശക്തിയുടെ വ്യയമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. തയ്യലും നെയ്ത്തും കോട്ട് പട്ട് എന്നീ ഉപയോഗ മൂല്യങ്ങൾ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതിൽ അത്യന്താപേക്ഷിത ഘടകങ്ങളാണ് , ചുരുക്കത്തിൽ ഈ രണ്ടു അദ്ധ്വാന രൂപങ്ങൾക്കും വ്യത്യസ്ത ഗുണങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്; പക്ഷെ അവയുടെ വ്യത്യസ്ത ഗുണങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും സാമാന്യവൽക്കരണം നടത്തുന്നിടത്തോളവും , രണ്ടിലുമടങ്ങുന്നത് ഒരേ ഗുണത്തിലുള്ള മാനുഷിക അദ്ധ്വാനമാകുന്നിടത്താളം മാത്രവും , തയ്യലും നെയ്ത്തും ഒരേ വസ്തുക്കളുടെ മൂല്യമെന്ന അന്ത:സ്സത്ത രൂപപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

Just as, therefore, in viewing the coat and linen as values, we abstract from their different use-values, so it is with the labour represented by those values: we disregard the difference between its useful forms, weaving and tailoring. As the use-values, coat and linen,are combinations of special productive activities with cloth and yarn, while the values, coat and linen, are, on the other hand, mere homogeneous congelations of indifferentiated labour, so the labour embodied in these latter values does not count by virtue of its productive relation to cloth and yarn, but only as being expenditure ofhuman labour-power. Tailoring and weaving are necessary factors in the creation of the use-values, coat and linen, precisely because these two kinds of labour are of different qualities; but in so far as abstraction is made from their special qualities, only in so far as both possess the same quality of being human labour, do tailoring and weaving form the substance of the values of the same articles.
